I have an ICX 7150-C12P and the PoE has switched off.

Posted on 19 Dec, 2019, in Uncategorized

I have an ICX 7150-C12P. The power was out for several hours and when it came back on the PoE wasn’t active. I have done the factory reset about a dozen times and I can’t get it back. I’ve read all these complex instructions on finding IP address, using a terminal prompt etc etc etc. Unfortunately all of that is over my head. Is there a way to manually turn it back on? Any help is greatly appreciated.

ICX DHCPv6 Server?

Posted on 19 Dec, 2019, in Uncategorized

Is support planned for DHCPv6 server in the ICX line? The ability to run DHCPv6 on the switch to hand out options is quite valuable, especially in a SLAAC environment.I’m configuring some ICX 7650 switches to replace a Catalyst 3750-X stack and am disappointed that I can’t supply IPv6 DNS and NTP server information from a built-in DHCP server as I could on the Cisco boxes.

Public custom VLAN not working on Fiber internet ICX 6610

Posted on 17 Dec, 2019, in Uncategorized

I will be decommissioning and removing copper connection in couple of weeks. Instead of doing cutover migration using eth 0. I decided to setup eth4 for Fiber and with the help of support team I set the interface for external network with new public IP and setup it up as primary interface on a failover setting. so all DNS and policy that uses will continue using copper and gradually modify policy and 1to1 NAT and SNAT.I have brocade 6610 layer three switch which has vlan 2001 for public ethernet. Copper port on switch was set to dual-mode on 2001 only and did not have association with default vlan 1.While I was trying to create fiber with similar switch configuration I ended up setting fiber dual-mode with vlan membership of 2001 (tab), 1 and 200. I was able to remove vlan 200 which did not cause any issue but as soon as I remove vlan 1 and set dual mode 2001 only interface fails which is exactly same as copper. Not sure if switch need to be rebooted to fix it. But again as soon as I put it back on 1 and 2001 with dual mode it works fine so I assume firewall is seeing change from switch which means it should not require reboot to trickle the change. Not sure why it does not work when I only try to associate to 2001 vlan which is set for public gateway. it is working fine on copper but fiber only works when traffic is routed from default vlan 1. Default vlan 1 is not best recommended vlan for any interface

I have a icx7750 switch in a datacenter as routing device.  Everything was running fine, but since we merge with a new organization, response time of the switch is very bad (ssh lag in cli) and we are now losing communication randomly with some servers behind.  We added 4 access switch and 19 new router-interface ve (previously 2 switch and 49 interface ve).cpu and memory dont seems to be a problemcan a system parameters was not set correctly (see below)?thanksSSH@R0202000-DISTR-CT-RT-01#sh default valuessys log buffers:50         mac age time:300 sec       telnet sessions:5ip arp age:10 min          bootp relay max hops:4     ip ttl:64 hopsip addr per intf:24when multicast enabled :igmp group memb.:260 sec   igmp query:125 sec         hardware drop: enabledwhen ospf enabled :ospf dead:40 sec           ospf hello:10 sec          ospf retrans:5 secospf transit delay:1 secwhen bgp enabled :bgp local pref.:100        bgp keep alive:60 sec      bgp hold:180 secbgp metric:10              bgp local as:1             bgp cluster id:0bgp ext. distance:20       bgp int. distance:200      bgp local distance:200System Parameters    Default    Maximum    Current    Configuredip-arp               8192       64000      8192       8192ip-static-arp        512        1024       512        512ip-cache             8192       32768      8192       8192ip-filter-port       2047       2047       2047       2047ip-filter-sys        3072       8192       8192       8192l3-vlan              32         1024       32         32ip-qos-session       1024       16000      1024       2048mac                  32768      32768      32768      32768ip-route             98304      131072     98304      98304ip-static-route      64         2048       64         64vlan                 64         4095       1024       1024spanning-tree        128        254        128        128mac-filter-port      32         256        32         32mac-filter-sys       64         512        64         64ip-subnet-port       24         128        24         24session-limit        65536      160000     65536      65536view                 10         65535      10         10virtual-interface    255        512        255        255hw-ip-next-hop       17408      17408      17408      17408hw-traffic-condition 50         1024       50         50rmon-entries         2048       32768      2048       2048igmp-snoop-mcache    512        6144       512        512mld-snoop-mcache     512        6144       512        512ip6-route            5120       7168       5120       5120ip6-static-route     64         1024       64         64ip6-cache            1024       2048       1024       1024msdp-sa-cache        4096       8192       4096       4096gre-tunnels          16         64         16         16ip-vrf               128        128        128        128ip-route-default-vrf 65536      131072     8000       8000ip6-route-default-vr 2048       7168       2048       2048ip-route-vrf         4096       131072     4096       4000ip6-route-vrf        1024       7168       1024       1024pim-hw-mcache        1024       6144       1024       1024pim6-hw-mcache       512        2048       512        512igmp-snoop-group-add 4096       8192       4096       4096mld-snoop-group-addr 4096       8192       4096       4096mac-notification-buf 4000       16000      4000       4000openflow-flow-entrie 3072       3072       3072       3072openflow-pvlan-entri 40         40         40         40openflow-unprotected 40         40         40         40max-ecmp             8          32         8          8max-dhcp-snoop-entri 1024       3072       1024       1024max-static-inspect-a 512        1024       512        512

Large campus network: best practices for Airplay (+ issues with lots of Apple TV’s)

Posted on 10 Dec, 2019, in Uncategorized

We have a large campus network: ZoneDirector ZD1200, ± 50 AP’s R500 and R510, ± 100 Apple TV’s, lots of iPads (1:1 and shared iPads). The Apple TV’s and iPads are on the same SSID, but in small VLAN’s/subnets. The backbone of our network has high performance. WiFi speed and reliability are perfect. We use AirPlay mirroring to the Apple TV’s to cast the screen of the teachers iPads to the projector or TV screen. We don’t use Bonjour Gateway. From time to time, we experience drop outs or lag in the Airplay streaming. We’d like to know, when configuring a WiFi network for AirPlay with lots of Apple TV’s:What are the best WLAN settings? What are the best settings for things like self healing, background scanning, load balancing, etc…?What are the best settings for the AP’s?Any other best practices to make AirPlay reliable?Any help or advice is greatly appreciated.

Why can’t I enable multicast on ICX 7250

Posted on 01 Dec, 2019, in Uncategorized

We are using the ICX 7250 switch in combination with data diodes and for that reason we need multicast to be enabled. But when I enable the multicast via the web interface of the ICX 7250, it disables itself after applying. Is there a trick or firmware update needed ?
